THE NEW QUESTION OF THE AGES

The question of the ages, "why am I here," has been taken over by "what's in it for me."  In years gone by, mankind had a genuine concern for his fellow man, but that sentiment has been replaced with an internalized worship of "me, myself and I."

People don't look out for one another as they once did.  Nowadays we don't even know the people who live within a stones throw from us.  Life has changed and the world has become crazy and complicated.  We used to gain gratification from what we did for others but now we are consumed with our own self interests.

God's design for the believer, is to focus on being a blessing to others and get our attention off of "what is in it for me" and "how am I going to benefit" from this interaction or relationship.  We are better than that.

Let's make some adjustments and refocus our attention and affections on doing the work of the Kingdom.  God insists on using you for the benefit of something bigger than yourself.  He created you to be blessed and to be a blessing to others, even at your own expense.

Genesis 12:1-3  Now the Lord had said to Abram, Get out of your country, and from your kin-folks, and from thy father’s house, to a land that I will shew you: And I will make of you a great nation, and I will bless you, and make your name great; and you shall be a blessing: And I will bless them that bless you, and curse him that curses you: and in you shall all families of the earth be blessed.

Take some time with God and repent of the "sin of selfishness" and make yourself available to make an impact, wherever and whenever you're needed.

CONFESSION: Father forgive me for focusing on my own little world at the expense of others.  I choose today to focus on the cares, hurts and needs of those around me and I promise to share your love through my words and works, with those I
come into contact with, in the name of Jesus...AMEN!
