"ACCOUNTABILITY"

By: Dr. Torrance Jacko

Leaders are not perfect!  When you place an expectation of perfection on a leader, you pressure them to perform at a level that they are probably not going to achieve.

Leaders are people too!  Leaders find themselves in many precarious situations that sometimes need a second set of eyes.  Humility is the key to accepting the fact that you aren’t an island and you don’t have all the answers.

Because we need others to affirm and sometimes correct us, we have to be the most accountable that we possibly can.  Accountability is the safety net that keeps you moored to the pier when you could easily break loose and become a ship adrift and out of control.

Accountability is giving others the right to speak into your life and question your character and conduct at any time, without you becoming offended and defensive.

Leaders have no choice, if you are going to do it right, than to allow others to hold you accountable.  Darius the king set up a system of accountability so that everyone answered to someone else.

Daniel 6:1-2
It pleased Darius to set over the kingdom an hundred and twenty princes, which should be over the whole kingdom; 2And over these three presidents; of whom Daniel was first: that the princes might give accounts unto them, and the king should have no damage.

The purpose of this accountability system was to prevent the king and eventually the kingdom, from suffering any damage or loss.  Accountability kept everyone on track and kept things from going off too far to fix it.

Daniel was accountable and proved himself faithful, so he was promoted above the other leaders who were chosen with him.

Daniel 6:3
Then this Daniel was preferred above the presidents and princes, because an excellent spirit was in him; and the king thought to set him over the whole realm.

He stood out from the crowd because and excellent spirit was in him.

Accountability keeps you Excellent!
