New Mind, New Me Part 2

New Mind, New Me    Part 2

New Creations must Re-New their minds to walk in obedience to God.

The mind is our companion along the way to spiritual maturity.

Illustration:  Baby with a full diaper, keep putting powder and a new one on top of the old.  Christians put new Bible information on top of the old mind and wonder why the “Thinking keeps Stinking.”

Don’t leave your mind out of your service to God… We are commanded to love God with our minds!  Luke 10:27

Is your mind an asset or liability to your spiritual development?

The mature Christian life is marked by disciplined choices concerning wrong and right.  These choices are connected to your mind!

Romans 12:1,2  Transforming your life is based on renewing your mind.

Your unguarded thoughts are indicators of what is going on inside you.

A.W. TOZAR: More than 10,000 thoughts a day pass between our ears, Our thoughts not only reveal what we are, they predict what we will become.

Philippians 4:8 These are thoughts consistent with a renewed mind.

It’s following Jesus in how and what we allow our minds to think and meditate on.

(2) Don’t be conformed to this world (age)…The way they reason and think.

Renewing the mind isn’t just resisting evil thoughts but giving our minds to God (1) for creativity (2) being in tune with leading of the Holy Spirit.

When our thinking is off concerning God, our basic behaviors become impure.

Romans 1:21-29  Rejecting God is the result of suppressing the truth about God… becoming futile in your thinking, minds become darkened.. Result=filled with every kind of wickedness

Metamorphosis is accomplished “by the renewing of your mind.”  Renovation!

Example:  Think of a house. Through cosmetic repairs and restoration, you can change paint and carpet to cover up ugly defects and increase the resale value, but that won’t lead you to transforming your life.

Paul is talking about a complete renovation. It’s like taking a house and completely gutting it. Walls, floors, wiring, plumbing, cabinets, bath and kitchen fixtures, roof – it’s all completely new. Anyone who’d seen the house in its previous condition wouldn’t recognize it now.
