MY HERO!!!!

Veterans Day is never complete to me, without remembering My Hero, Mr. Willie Jacko Sr.  Growing up in Louisiana as a Boy, He fought for a country that didn't recognize him as the man he was.  He served in a segregated unit but went about doing his business with Dignity and Honor.

You took care of your Family with very little and made us feel like we had everything in the world.  I can remember some of the incidents that he endured while being mis-treated like a Boy in society, while standing up like a Man.  I remember the policeman who came to the car window and asked him, "where are you going so fast Boy", he was looking out for his family and didn't respond in kind to the pressures that were placed on him, knowing the possible repercussions.

Veterans Day, my Birthday, wouldn't be the same without remembering the Man who taught me so much about life and raised my little nappy head, in his home, until my Mother was able to take care of us by herself.

He is the Man that I have called "Daddy" all my life, because that is what he chose to be, like so many other Grandfather's who take on the role of "Daddy."  You were the Best and always will be to me...

  1. Amen. Pastor, the example that you are setting before us is awesome! GOD has given you the wonderful job of showing us how to honor those who have paved the way for us, especially those that love and care for us. Your example is helping me to better honor and appreciate my dad as the days pass by. I'm forever grateful for what GOD is doing in my life through your life because of Jesus Christ. Praise GOD!
