HOW WILL I BE REMEMBERED?

Reading Assignment:  Matthew Chapters 26-28

One of the questions in Life is, "How will I be remembered after I am dead?"

Matthew 26:6-13, Jesus was hanging out at Simon's house, while eating dinner a woman walked in and poured a very expensive ointment on His head.  Can you believe it, she had the unmitigated gaul to interrupt Jesus' dinner?

It would have been one thing if the focus had been on the fact that she interrupted Jesus at dinner time or that she was a "party crasher", but His disciples got offended at "how much money that ointment cost and why did she waste it on the Preacher?"

The disciples considered it "waste" for the ointment to have been poured over the head of Jesus.  "How dare she waste that expensive oil on Jesus and why did He let her do it, instead of selling it and giving to the poor."  This seemingly insignificant act was applauded by Jesus instead of Him rejecting the act and rebuking her for such foolishness.  Jesus said we are to mention this act of love and honor, everywhere the gospel is preached (Matthew 26:13).

She made such an impact on Jesus that He commanded us to memorialize her until He returns again.  He wanted her to forever be remembered for what she did for Him.  To others it seemed that she was out of order but to Jesus, she was honoring Him before He was to die for the sins of the world.

This gives a whole new meaning to, "Only what you do for Christ will last!"  This brings me to a very sobering thought... What Will I Be Remembered For?  What about YOU?

Faith Confession:  Heavenly Father, I choose to live my life in a way that others will remember my good works and glorify You.  I ask for daily wisdom to make an impact in the lives of others, that will live on after I am gone, in the name of Jesus, Amen!
