Excerpt from Dr. Jacko's Upcoming Book

The Enemy of Fear
The question, “why should I even try” plagues your thinking and your mind is off and running into the valley of negativity.  Your next action while in the valley will be motivated by fear instead of faith.  Fear pushes and drives you to react in the flesh, instead of acting as you are led by the Holy Spirit.  The works of the flesh will soon begin to manifest and the fruit will grow and show the rest of the world, what type of person you really are.

Fear says to you, “no sense in trying because you have been down this road before.”  The experiences that we go through in life have the most profound impact on what we believe and how we act.  No matter how much information you are taught, your personal experiences will speak much louder to you in your daily operation.

For instance, if you attempt to meet someone of the opposite sex and after using your best greeting and conversation starter, you get turned down over and over.  You go to functions with friends and they try to set you up and you get rejected on several occasions.

It doesn’t matter how much time people waste, attempting to convince you that you are a great person and there is someone out there for you, there is nothing motivating you to want to take the old college try, one more time.  Your personal experiences of rejection and shame speak much louder than the affirming words of your closest friends.

You appreciate their desire to connect you with the person of your dreams. You're thankful for their diligence to make it happen, but the reality is that you are tired of being rejected, so you just smile and lovingly turn them down from attending the next functions where there will be other unmarried friends they want you to meet.

You're not motivated to do it again because the experience of rejection is painful and after feeling that pain for an extended period of time, you would rather watch tv and eat ice cream than to deal with the fear of rejection.

We get into this mindset and nothing seems to motivate us to go to the next level in life.
