New Mind, New Me!

New Mind, New Me!

Who are you?
Most people never discover who they are so they spend their lives imitating someone they want to be.

We were created as God’s children, finding our ultimate fulfillment and contentment in His will for our lives.

Trying to define yourself by your possessions, accomplishments or how others perceive you often leads to a life of disappointment.

A. Self-evaluation is the launching pad for the discovery of your identity.

·       How do you define who you are?
·       Some people are dependent on external attributes or roles—such as appearance, education, skills, family relationships, and occupation—to describe and define themselves.
Unless we define our identity by who we are in Christ, we will never know our true purpose.

·       Jesus identified himself with the Father.  John 14:9-10
John 1:12 Son of God, Ephesians 1:5 Adopted into the family, Romans 15:7 Accepted in Christ, Colossians 2:9,10 Complete in him,
1 Peter 2:9 Royalty

B. To walk in your new identity, you must know the truth about who you are in Christ.

We discover our unique identity as we draw closer to God.  2 Corinthians 5:17

Guard your thoughts closely and replace falsehoods with truth from the Word of God.  (2 Cor. 10:5)

·       Knowing who you are in Christ changes your thinking about your flaws and weaknesses?
 3. You need the right picture of your new self, in order to act like your new self.

·       Behavioral scientists have discovered that we usually see things that we are prepared to see. This is all centered in a network of nerve cells called the "Reticular Activating System." Everybody has this system.

The "Reticular Activating System." works like this: Once something has been brought to our attention, and we have been prepared to see it, we’ll see it virtually everywhere we go.

For example, you decide to buy a new car. You make up your mind that you are going to buy a certain brand, a certain body style, and a certain color. Now, you’ll see those cars everywhere. You’ll see them on the roads, in TV advertisements, in newspapers and magazines. They’re everywhere.

Now what has happened? They were always there, but the moment you were prepared to see them, your Reticular Activating System kicked in, and suddenly you saw them everywhere.
·       New creations must Re-new their minds. Romans 12:2
