READING ASSIGNMENT: Isaiah 1 - 3
“Giving thanks always for all things unto God and the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ” (Ephesians 5:20).
In considering this text we first see the duty declared. The apostle Paul gives frequent admonitions in his writings to give thanks. There are various ways of expressing our thanks to God — in song, in prayer, by declaration, and by obedience. It is indeed an important part of the Christian life to continually give thanks to God.
We then see the scope revealed. We are to give thanks for the things the Lord has done for us, for all the things he has promised, and for his daily mercies.
And finally we note the method described. We are to give thanks to the Father, acknowledging that it is he who provides for us, and it is to be done in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ. The only acceptable way to give thanks to the Father is through his Son Jesus Christ.
Faith Confession: Father I give you thanks in everything, no matter the situation, you deserve glory and praise from my lips. I promise to remember you in every aspect of my life and thank you for making it all possible, in Jesus' name, AMEN.
Amen! Thanks, Sir.
