"Every Chance I Get"

"Every Chance I Get"...

It is often said by those who aren't faithful in Church Attendance, "I go to church, every Chance I get"...

This is the result of an erroneous idea, that "we do the God thing when we get the chance" and we think God is OK with that!

Well, this thinking must be challenged. Listen to me, "We go to the golf course, every chance we get... We go to the ballpark, every chance we get... We go to the beach, every chance we get... But, we go to Church, Period...!"

Everything in our weekly schedule has a fixed position and God gets whatever is left over. This is out of Order! God must be FIRST in everything... Matthew 6:33 When we think this way;

1. We operate from a position of Pride.

Pride manifests when we act Independent From God, as if He isn't the Source, Supplier and Sustainer of everything we have... God has our backs and is never asleep on the Throne. He only wants us to daily demonstrate our total dependence on Him, while we manage the stuff He has allowed us to be Stewards over.

One of the most important things that God gave us to manage is, TIME. If He is to be FIRST, then TIME must be the first thing we give Him "First Dibs" on!

Going to Church should be the FIRST Priority on your Weekly Calendar! God's position in the Family order must be, FIRST. The Children are being raised with the very same mentality, that comes from the poor example so many of them witness each day, at Home.

2. We are demonstrating ungodly Selfishness.

According to Hebrews 10:24,25; we must Consider one another, so we can encourage each other to Love and do Good Works... How? By faithfully attending church, so that you can encourage others and be encouraged.

We NEED each other, far more than we are sometimes willing to admit. We need the fellowship that comes from the relationships we develop with others in the Body of Christ. We can never achieve a satisfying Christian life, without consistent interaction with other believers.

  5. Hi Pastor. This behavior should have been instilled in us when we were little children. Unfortunately for some, it is not true for everyone. Some of us have no problem in doing the things that are essential for our lives, this is because growing up some of us only did the things that we wanted to do. Other things we did because of pressure from our family and so-called friends. We should want to live the way God pre-planned for us. He won't make us do anything. We must want to do it. If there is anything in the way, ask God for His help, He is the Master and Creator of all things!
